RideLondon 100 - Bike Ride

Dr Kieran McCormack will be taking part in the RideLondon 100 Bike Ride on 4th August 2019. This year Dr McCormack will be raising money for Asthma UK. Asthma UK support the work NHS staff up and down the country do with our many thousands of asthma sufferers, and continues to fund important research into prevention, causes and treatments of this condition. Free Wi-Fi

We now have Free Wi-Fi for our patients to use whilst at the surgery. Please feel free to login whilst you are here to look up health information, download health apps and browse the internet. Login details are displayed in the waiting room.

Winter extra appointments

Worthen Medical Practice is supporting the local NHS scheme to provide extra 'on the day' appointments each week throughout the winter period.  If you feel you need to see a doctor please ask at reception (01743 891401) to make an appointment or come to the open clinic each morning before 10 am.

Flu vaccination Clinics Autumn 2018

 

Clinics will be held at the surgery in October and November on a variety of days and times to give patients a choice of when to attend. This year clinics will again be ‘by appointment’ which means that patients will be given a time to arrive for their flu vaccination, thus reducing waiting times for patients and ensuring the smooth running of the clinics in the surgery.

 

If you are eligible for the flu vaccine please call in or ring the surgery on 01743 891401 to make your appointment for your flu vaccination. If you are unsure if you are eligible please ask one of the reception staff who will be able to advise you.

 

Call NHS 111 from 17th July

From Tuesday 17 July 2018, patients across Telford and Wrekin and Shropshire who need urgent out-of-hours medical help or advice will need to call 111. 

The NHS 111 service will replace the current out-of-hours GP telephone access service provided by Shropdoc in Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin in line with national policy to provide a consistent, integrated approach to urgent care; but any patients that need to see a clinician out-of-hours will still be seen by a local GP or other appropriate clinician.  For more information please follow the link here

GP Extended Opening Hours

A new service has been set up to enable patients to make a routine appointment to see a GP or nurse in the evening between 6 - 8 pm and at the weekends.  A network of Shropshire practices are offering this service.  If you would like to book a routine appointment for these times please ring the surgery on 01743 891401.  Please note this is not for urgent medical advice when we are closed; this new service is for routine appointments.   Please click here for more information about this service.

Helping you choose well

Information for you on the various services available when you are not well.

If you are not able to attend an appointment you have booked, for whatever reason, please let us know. We can then offer that appointment to someone else who needs it. 

Please read about the Pharmacy First Scheme here.  You may be able to see the pharmacist about your ailment which may be more convenient for you.

Please be aware that there may be a charge of up to £10 if a prescription needs to be reissued due to the original prescription or medication being lost.

Do you have any information or communication needs due to a disability or sensory loss that makes it difficult to communicate with the surgery?

For example if you find using the telephone difficult would you prefer us to contact you by email? When we send you letters would you prefer them to be in large font?

If this would be helpful or you have any other needs please let one of the reception staff know so that we can do our best to help with this.

New Practice Leaflet

We have updated our practice leaflet to include more information about the services we provide and how the surgery runs.  Paper copies are available at reception.  Please ask if you would like one or click on the link on our home page for your copy of the latest practice leaflet.

 

Friends and Family Test

The NHS has introduced a new, ongoing survey called the 'Friends and Family Test' to help us monitor the service we provide to you, our patients.  If you attend the surgery to see a clinician or just to pick up medication please help us improve our services by completing the two quick questions on the survey.  The first question asks 'would you recommend this practice to your friends or family' hence the name of the survey.  We read all survey feedback and are open to constructive comments and ways to improve the service for all our patients.  Thanks for your support in improving our care for you. 

Twitter and Facebook - ways to keep up with what is going on in the community

For those of you into technology there is now a facebook page called 'Callow Communities Patients' - just 'like' the page to be kept up to date with local, Regional and National issues in the NHS.

The Shropshire Walk-in Health Centre service is moving

From Monday 15 December 2014, the Shropshire Walk-in Centre will be located in the Urgent Care Centre at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.  It will continue to be open from 8am until 8pm every day and will see a range of minor injuries and illnesses.

If you need to be seen urgently and cannot wait for a GP appointment, you can go to the Walk-in Centre at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. Follow signs to the Urgent Care Centre (Walk-in Centre).

Worthen Medical Practice is moving with the times!

Patient on-line access 

Did you know that you can now book and cancel your appointments online?  You can also view, request and print off a list of your repeat medications and view your medical record through the patient access website.  If you would like access to this service or more information please call into the surgery and ask at reception.

GP2GP

When you move to or from our practice we use a system called GP2GP to send or receive your medical record electronically. This means that we (or your new practice) will receive your medical record instantly and this is integrated into your electronic record here at the surgery ensuring that your record is as accurate and up-to-date as possible for when you see one of the clinical staff.

Summary Care Records/emis viewer

We share certain information both nationally and locally to support our clinical colleagues in providing you with the best service possible. Firstly our database system integrates with the ‘spine’. This is the National Summary Care Records system which has been operating for a few years now. We also share our database locally with the out of hours service ‘Shropdoc’ and there are plans to also link up so that our local A&E are able to view your records. There are security systems in place to ensure your information is safe and if you use these local services the clinician will ask your permission to view your information before they do so. If you do not wish your information to be shared either nationally or locally there is the facility for you to opt out. Please let one of the receptionists know if this is your wish.

Powys Patients

Powys patients can now self refer to physiotherapy services in Powys without the need to see a GP first - just complete the form on our website (in clinics and services area) or collect one from the surgery.  See our clinics and services section for more information.

Patient Group Information 

Please visit the Patient Group section of our website to view the latest information about the surgery - we will update this area regularly with copies of the power point presentations that run in the waiting room along with information leaflets that we hand out with medications.  All the information in these presentations is produced by the volunteers of the Patient Group so a big thanks to them for all their hard work!

We are very pleased to be able to offer you the opportunity to book your appointments with the doctor, nurse or phlebotomist on-line.  We hope that this facility will offer you a greater degree of freedom so that you can arrange the booking of your appointment at a time convenient to you.  Please be assured that this facility is supported by secure software so that no other patient will be able to view your appointment information when they log-in to the web site to make their appointment.

Please give us a ring or call in to the surgery and ask one of the reception staff for your registration letter.  This will contain all the information you will need to register as a user for this service.

To help you get the most out of this service we have made some notes on how our appointments are managed which should help you decide the most appropriate time to make your appointment depending on your needs.  You can either collect these notes with your registration letter or view them HERE.
